There are times I feel as if I have the greatest job in the world.  All day I get to sit and listen to great artist, new and established. What is most enjoyable is to find an artist that really has some true gifts. Often times you hear a great deal of the same coming out new artist and well, some more established artist as well.  Then, you put in cd’s like “Fearless” by a new, unsigned artist by the name of Calandra and I just go “wow”.

We had run into Calandra mid-July while holding a contest that was to give away a free trip to GMA Immerse (www.experienceimmerse.com) This week of intense musical training by Christian music’s top artist is the premire proofing ground for new artist looking to become more involved in music and develop their careers.  Calandra entered our contest by submitting a song called. “Falling (Take Over” (track 8 on her just released cd). We were struck by the power in her voice and the message of the song.  Of course, Calandra was one of our winners.

We were able to spend some time with this talented artist at Immerse as well.   Her heart is amazing and her talent is deep.  She writes her own songs as well as a good majority of the music, playing guitar on several of the tracks on Fearless. She is an artist that is truly committed to sharing her love for God through her music.

Like any Indie artist, they are self-funded and are left to find their way. Without any huge resources, Calandra was able to put together this 13 track cd and get 100 of them printed.  The tracks are great!  Fearless, Be Still, Hold On, Falling, just some of my personal favorites.

Calandra is not what you might expect. She’s edgy, with a hint of rock flair. Her writing stills are great and the music is driving. She mixes genras as well, making for interesting, fun and thought provoking messages. She has made a believer out of me and she will make one of you as well.

Now, here is were you do your part. It’s time to support these new artist. Buy her cd, buy her downloads. You will not only be helping an artist that has made great personal sacrifices to get to where she is at today, you will be making sure the world will hear Gods message through her for years to come.
